Southern Utah is home to a large number of very talented artists working in almost every medium imaginable. And while Cedar City is not as well known an art destination as areas such as Taos, New Mexico, the art being produced here is the equal of any as can be seen in the "Tuweep Overlook" by noted local water-colorist, Spike Ress, shown at left. The local geology, geography, topography and scenery being some of the most striking anywhere on Earth naturally lend themselves to great art. The social development of Southern Utah spanning the centuries between the ancient Anasazi and modern people has produced an amazing variety of art and artifacts that continues to delight the informed.
